I like my Nikes. Nike exploits asians and horrendous amounts of profit per shoe. But i still like it.
Reason 1 - The shoes feel 'more' comfortable over heavy usage, and i mean 3 km daily plus basketball plus the gym
Reason 2 - Nobody advertises like Nike. I remember how as a kid i would see Nike soccer or basketball commercials (particularly the one about Jordan saying hat he has failed again and again and thats why he succeeds), an i was sold.
Reason 3 : Nike endorsed Michael Jordan. Period. The geatest basketball player who ever played, 'Jesus-in-sneakers' had Nike written on the sneakers.

no problem with what you like or dislike... one thing I would say is, one's perception of what is good or useful can get biased by brandname...
If you test two shoes, whose brandnames are unknown to you, and then you are able to say that this is Nike, And say that its better, to phir sunenge!
and its quite subjective as to which brand is better...
personally, I would go for a local brand, since International brands take money out of country...
however, often I am also left with less choice...
yes....thts true bt one thing tht keeps ppl glued to these brands is its ability to last longer....honesty even after raugh usage u wldnt find it sole in two parts lik what happens with most of the local brands...yea u do pay more bt in return ur also getting its value...personally i anytime wld prefer a pair of branded shoes not because im a brand slave bt because i see it an investment...ones u go for a brand like nike u also start taking care of it cause u knew how much u have spent on it but at the same time u are tensioin free when it comes to its performance.... it keeps u comfortable throughout ur workout.
