Good and Evil

Q. Dear Guruji, Here on the path i feel i am taken care of. But what about those who go through torture, slavery and suffering? Is God partial to taking care of a few?

Guruji:
You cannot know the mind of the divine. You cannot fathom it you can only wonder about it. If you stay with the question i don't know if you will find an answer or not. Do you know if there is no misery in this world, all the good qualities will also disappear. This is a tough truth to digest because it is not very pleasant. For good qualities to exist,  it is essential for the opposite to be there. Suppose there was no suffering on whom will you be compassionate? How will you even know what is compassion. That is why we say opposite values are complementary.

Theres a story in indian mythology. Good and Evil decided that they would play a drama in the world. For one to be a hero, one had to be a villain. And so it was. The good and the evil fought for a long time, and at the end, when evil was killed, they both sat together and thanked each other. This is the story of Ram and Ravana, when Ravana was about to be killed, he told Rama "I am glad to die at your hand, for I have found salvation."

Opposite values are complementary. Truth is multi dimensional, not linear. Good and Evil both co-exist in God.

Jai Gurudeva!

Beautiful Abhishek ! This question comes up often in my mind too. Yoga Vasishta has a beautiful answer in the form of Prahalada story. And Of course Guruji always has the best answer !

@RR : Guruji is so amazing in taking everyone along. Not once have i ever felt powerless or unaccepted in His presence. His love is truly beyond right and wrong, and this love is the greatest mystery worth wondering about....How can someone accept people like this? How can He stay so completely untouched?

Also, one question that was with me for sometime now like all my other unknowable questions this too had turned into a wonder.

@Tans and RR - There was a very touching moment i recall
Guruji was elaborating on something in one of our TRM sessions, when he said "You know bahut kuch gadbad hota hai par if i cannot accept people the way they are i have no right to teach that." I was so moved...here is God, and yet he abides by every ethic and every human value. I still can't help but feel overwhelmed when i remember him speaking like that

One interesting thought about you roomie this morning... I was searching your blog link in google this morning...

I wrote "Hues of CRY" as search string and saw your link missing from the top and i was baffled.. then suddenly i realized the word cry has never been associated with you and that too when you are making a public appearance.....

Its impossible to attach such words with you and it took me a moment to reach your blog next....
